About Distance Learning

Distance learning is a way in which people can learn completely using the internet. Students will have access to a dedicated, interactive web site that will have email links to the course instructors, and links to view weekly assignments which are designed to be directly related to the management of your own museum's collections.

Students can also access the course syllabus and message boards to which all participants will be able to post. Once each week, the students and the unit instructor will "meet" on line to discuss the previous week's assignment and participate in a real time, on line conversation. Students will be expected to make themselves available for the weekly classes and read articles about the field as assigned; a digital camera will be necessary for uploading images of objects or storage areas from your institution. Internet access is required, and a dial-up connection is permissible.
